Biden quietly authorizes finishing Trump's border wall
In another example of quietly accepting that Trump's policies and efforts weren't 100% wrong, Biden restarts construction in Arizona to fill the busiest gaps in the wall.
Despite declaring that "Not another foot" of the Trump Administration's wall separating the United States from Mexico would be built, Biden handed down orders on thursday to begin finishing sections of the wall near Yuma, Arizona to fill the busiest sections where the most illegal border crossings are taking place.
This is encouraging, but will likely be another example of Biden merely stopping Trump's policies and efforts in their tracks, only to start them back up quietly and take the credit. Hey, I don't care who gets the credit, at the end of the day.
We all know the truth, restart the Keystone XL pipeline, resume the issuance of oil and gas leases, and admit you were wrong there, too. Then you can take the credit legitimately for taking steps that actually have been proven to get gas prices down, Mr. President.
To stay on topic, the plan for the border wall includes filling four key areas that are particularly busy with migrant crossings near Yuma, Arizona.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas authorized the revival of a plan the Trump Administration originally put into action to "deploy modern, effective border measures and improve safety and security along the Southwest Border."
So how big is the problem? Well, from January through June 2022, border patrol agents have stopped almost 200,000 illegal immigrants from crossing at the Yuma border sector - 400% more than last year.
While finishing the wall in Yuma will solve a sizable chunk of Arizona's problems with migrants since it is the busiest section for the state, Del Rio and Rio Grande Valley in South Texas were still busier with more traffic along the U.S.-Mexico border.
I wonder if this about-face has anything to do with the fact that red state governors have been sending illegal immigrants to Washington D.C and New York? I guess when confronted with the problem in their own areas, suddenly democrats don’t like immigrants nearly as much.
It's ironic since Biden stated during his campaign for President that there wouldn't be another foot of border wall construction under his administration. I guess he can keep his campaign promises to his owners in Ukraine and China to make good on their nefarious assistance in getting him elected, but not when it comes to being honest with the American people.
Just admit you're wrong, we're all wrong from time to time. I would respect a President who tells us that he can admit when he's wrong and defer to good ideas, no matter which side of the political spectrum they came from. Wouldn't that solve so many issues with bipartisan cooperation in government? Just square with the fact that you were mistaken and work together. The right should also have the humility to do the same.
In light of this, I'm asking that we stop behaving like toddlers fighting over a toy, because that toy is our country, and it's in danger of being torn in half and divided due to meaningless partisan squabbles for political points. Put aside your differences and work together, it's a lot easier than you think.
