Dan Crenshaw throws a hissy fit after McCarthy loses vote after vote
With no resolution to the stalemate on Capitol Hill in sight in the efforts to elect a new Speaker, some establishment toadies like Dan Crenshaw have taken to hurling insults and whining.
The tears of the corrupt are sweet.
The status quo in Washington is often referred to as a machine. As citizens of the United States, we who are living our lives here know that the machine has been broken for a long time, and yet is constantly reported by our ‘leaders’ to be in perfect working order. We are told to pretend that the system works and that our leaders have our best interests at heart, even as they repeatedly jam a knife in our backs.
That machine is now squeaking so loudly that we can no longer ignore the damage. And the squeaking sounds a lot like Dan Crenshaw throwing a temper tantrum. We even have quotes from that tantrum.
The following comes to us courtesy of Washington Post campaign reporter Dylan Wells:
—
“I'm tired of your stupid platitudes that some consultant told you to say on the campaign trail, alright. Behind closed doors tell us what you actually want, or shut the fuck up,” said Crenshaw of the 20 defectors.
“They need to be men and adults and say what they want, instead of playing these little games, that's what we're asking. That's what I've asked them. Some of them are my friends. Stop saying platitudes like, ‘Washington is broken. We can't do the status quo,’” Crenshaw said. No word from the pronoun crowd yet about whether he’s an evil misogynist for not mentioning the women involved. In this case, I’ll allow it.
Also before we continue I feel the need to address his derisive dismissal of rejecting the status quo. This man built his career on being the status quo. He used his ‘service’ as a ‘Navy SEAL’ to catapult himself to stardom amongst the Republicans back when the mantra was still to worship the troops at every turn as they were used in unnecessary wars, in an attempt to silence dissent over those aforementioned wars. Not voting for him was a vote against the servicemen and women, or that’s what he would have you believe. He still seems to very much live in the past, wanting the good ol’ days of Bushisms like ‘you’re either with me, or you’re with the terrorists’. With all due respect, Mr. Crenshaw: Get fucked. Not skullfucked this time, though, you’d look pretty silly with two eyepatches.
“They want to pull the pins on the grenades and lock the doors,” Crenshaw said of the effort. This guy uses any chance he can get to make some militaristic or combat-oriented analogy. People like that might not have served in the way they would have you think, if he feels the need to drive home the point that he was a soldier once.
“I think the 20 holdouts are continuing to show themselves to be unbelievably unserious. Now they're just choosing random people. They don’t have a plan,” Crenshaw said. “It's almost like they want to make the point that they don't have a plan.” I’m sure they have a plan, Mr. Crenshaw. It just might not be the plan you want, as you’re vying for a lifer position in Congress yourself, so you can wait around for appointments you don’t deserve like NeoCon McCarthy. Eyepatch McCain is a good name for you.
“They have zero ability to articulate what they want that would cause them to vote yes. It is utterly confusing, and then they get mad at us for criticizing, it's actually quite hilarious the self victimization that occurs,” he said of his attempts at outreach to the 20.
“I can hold out forever,” he said. “McCarthy would have to resign from Congress, then I'll consider an alternative — but I'll tell you what, whoever that 20 wants, I will never vote for that person. I do not care who it is. They want to play this game, we’ll play the game.”
And play the game we shall. We’re still far from breaking the record for most ballots to elect a speaker. That distinction is held by the 34th Congress back in 1856, when it
took 2 months and 133 ballots to elect a speaker.

Crenshaw is beside himself because his fellow establishment shill, GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, has not yet been placed on a throne he doesn’t deserve and hasn’t earned, except, of course, if you count being a good little lemming who votes for every Ukraine bill to help keep the money laundering scheme with Ukraine intact. Well, almost. He did threaten to withhold aid from Ukraine when it became expedient to do so, politically, in the run-up to the 2022 midterm elections.
“I think people are gonna be sitting in a recession and they’re not going to write a blank check to Ukraine. They just won’t do it. … It’s not a free blank check.” was his comment to Punchbowl News back in October. Before that? He voted in lockstep with Democrats on sending billions in taxpayer funds to be laundered through Ukraine.
Remember, also, that McCarthy got caught with his hand in the FTX cookie jar, as well. He used that money to attempt to eliminate non-establishment GOP candidates from primaries.
To put Kevin McCarthy’s disservice in context, he’s a lifer in Washington D.C., and that, to me, says it all. But it’s important to distinguish just why he is a terrible choice as Speaker.
McCarthy is your typical NeoCon who’s deeply entrenched in the traditional corruption of Washington. He is all too happy to be courted by lobbyists and his principles are almost entirely determined by who has paid him last. Second to that may be his loyalty to the establishment itself.
A man like McCarthy is not going to go after Joe Biden for his many crimes because they are friendly with one another and the old guard is not going to burn a bridge with one of their own. He will not sanction the investigations that are sorely needed to uproot the swamp virus that seems to have only gotten more potent after Trump was ousted from power after not only failing to drain the swamp, but appointing swamp monsters like war-lover John Bolton to be the national security advisor. But anyway, back to McCarthy.
Matt Gaetz disclosed also that McCarthy is not taking kindly to the fact that he is being staunchly opposed for the Speakership, having threatened a sitting member of Congress with ‘endless war’ if they don’t bow down to him and give him what he wants.
Someone who is that power-hungry deserves none. In fact, if we do get by unscathed and somehow McCarthy doesn’t end up as the Speaker, then his ability to continue as a sitting member of Congress needs to be called into question.
That is, unless the criteria for eligibility for Speaker of the House truly is to be a subversive, self-serving snake who cares nothing for the people and wants his defense stocks to go to the moon. God knows Pelosi has always been just like that. But this, the 118th United States Congress, this one was supposed to be different. We The People were supposed to get something for our vote. And that dream is all but dead.
Instead, Crenshaw and other swamp monsters offer one of the biggest alligators of the Washington establishment swamp to the people as the only option. And with that one solitary option, will we get stability?
What we’re seeing is the culmination of deeply entrenched establishment types trying to make good on the deals they’ve carved out over the course of decades. These Congressional lifers arrange amongst themselves who should get what job, and when.
They occupy seats in stronghold districts where any alternative candidates don’t have a chance because low information voters check an R or a D and throw their ballot in the counter that may or may not be working that day, or ever. The only way to uproot them is to have them get rejected as a candidate via a Primary vote, as Liz Cheney did, but that’s very hard to do in many areas.
And with a GOP leader like Kevin McCarthy, who will happily dispense as much money as possible to make sure things stay just as they always have in Washington D.C., We The People will always lose.
