Prepare for election 'irregularities'
Several counties are reporting widespread outages where their Dominion voting machines and tabulators are once again malfunctioning, and the media once again claims a 'red mirage' scenario.
I’ve been saying it for a while now, mostly in jest, but I will go ahead and say it: The fix is in. Am I still joking? A bit, but the joke has gotten markedly less funny.
Media reports such as this one from ABC News should give all right-wing voters pause as they remember the very similar rhetoric that went around in 2020, claiming that a ‘red mirage’ would likely appear on election day to signify that Republicans have won the election, but the final tally of votes and the ‘true results’ might take as long as several weeks to ascertain. And if 2020 was any indication, they’ll count as many votes as it takes, as long as it takes.
Jason Johnson of Morgan State University appeared on MSNBC to basically declare that election results he doesn’t agree with are likely to be false in a pre-emptive strike as those like him fear the prospect of a red wave.
”In the state of Georgia, thanks to Brian Kemp and [Georgia Secretary of State] Raffensperger, they changed the state law so that you cannot get a provisional ballot in Georgia before 5 o'clock. So if you waited in line for 2 1/2 hours, got there, and they said, 'Oh there's some sort of mistake, you can't get a provisional ballot here'.” said Johnson, decrying the overblown law that enhanced election integrity in Georgia in the wake of Stacey Abrams’ election denial in 2018 — something Mr. Johnson conveniently forgets because she’s on his team.
Johnson continues, ”The level of voter suppression is beyond anything that we saw in 2018. So I think it's completely up in the air. There has been youth turnout at levels we haven't expected. Democrats feel confident. Republicans I've spoken to feel confident. But we can't say that whatever happens tonight is a fair and equitable election, because there have been too many laws passed by election deniers to keep people from being able to express themselves.”
Where do I even start with this absolute pile of horseshit? If any voter suppression is taking place this year, it is in red areas where machines keep ‘conveniently’ breaking down, and with long lines coupled with that plus difficulties obtaining enough paper to actually print ballots, I think the voter suppression is occurring in Republican strongholds around the country to disenfranchise Republicans, which you’re allowed to do, according to MSNBC.
Johnson’s pre-emptive assertion that there are irregularities is rather presumptuous, and I believe he could be trying to prime Democrats to take to the streets like Brazilians have done in the wake of their own hotly contested elections to try and get their way. Seems quite a bit like stochastic terrorism to me. If anything violent happens, Jason Johnson needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
I blame Al Gore for all this, personally. He started all this election denial with his ‘hanging chads’ excuse back in 2000. But if you watch the news, they would say such narratives didn’t begin until 2020.
I’m not saying there was fraud during the last election cycle, but I was up all day and night in 2020 watching how things progressed. To watch the sudden influx of votes for Joe Biden just seemed a little… suspicious. Some even said the odds were so astronomical for how Biden won in 2020 that it was the equivalent of winning four lottery jackpots in one day. What a lucky Big Guy™.
So what sort of weirdness are we seeing right now? Well, Maricopa County in Arizona is once again a haven for problems as their ‘tabulators’ seem to have gone on the blink in one fell swoop. Election officials are trying to smooth things over but as this video by Tyler Bowyer shows, people are very suspicious of what is going on. The funny thing about Arizona is that Katie Hobbs — Kari Lake’s democrat opponent — has been Arizona’s secretary of state since 2019, and now two elections have already come under scrutiny on her watch. Makes you wonder if such a person is capable of being governor when she can’t get the little things right, like voter ID and paper ballots.
Mercer County in Pennsylvania, meanwhile, has seen a significant issue with their voting infrastructure that has caused widespread printing and scanning issues to take place. Guess who made the machines? Dominion. Surprised? Me neither. Of course, the superintendent of elections for Mercer County swears that ‘every vote will be counted’. He should really qualify that by saying every valid vote, but not everyone takes language as seriously as I do, I guess. Counting every vote means you intend to count the illegal ones as well.
Pennsylvania has already proven itself, first in 2020, and now in 2022, to be a hotbed of suspicious election activities. Initially, Philadelphia city commissioners wanted to throw out a process that was put into place to catch people who ‘double-voted’ in the act, and to disqualify offending ballots, but a GOP lawsuit forced them to keep it in place. Ironic in a sense, seeing as the GOP prefers same-day results. But necessary, as John Fetterman’s camp also filed a lawsuit wanting all improperly dated ballots counted, votes that should be thrown out, but of course the Dems know who the knuckledraggers that can’t write a date properly probably voted for, and it wasn’t Republicans.
I have also seen anecdotal stories of polling stations running out of paper for the printers that print out the ballots completed on voting machines, forcing them to utilize paper ballots — which, with the proper measures taken, are actually preferable, but likely suspect in this case without safeguards in place — to allow everyone who comes in to cast a ballot. These stories seem to be corroborated by this news story, seen here.
Understandably, after all the inefficacies of 2020, voters in Arizona aren’t terribly trusting of their election officials who seem to once again be having baffling malfunctions. Do they not check these machines for functionality before dragging them out of storage and putting them into service? Perhaps it’s time to pony up the cash for updated models that don’t preferentially count certain votes over others.
The man in the video explaining the issues says that one tabulator is reading about 75% of the ballots being cast, while another 25% are having issues. I’d love to see the ones that are having issues and what is being done with them, especially after videos surfaced in 2020 of people destroying ballots containing votes for Republicans that the same old suspects claimed were ‘hoaxes’ where the people were merely destroying spoiled ballots, but the ‘evidence’ they provided at the time was easily replicated with elementary photo editing. Always take such ‘fact checks’ with a grain or two of salt, they have everything to gain by deceiving you, clearly. They’ve been doing it for 6+ years now, clearly business is booming or they wouldn’t exist anymore. But I digress.
Naysayers ( ironically, always on the left, weird ) always put forth that it’s perfectly normal for vote counting to take as long as several weeks to get the final tally. Rather than offer my own reply to that nonsense, I will let this clapback at Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by Glenn Greenwald say it instead.
I agree with Glenn wholeheartedly. You would think the country that touts itself as the world’s ‘premier democracy’ would have the proverbial Cadillac of voting protocols in place to make sure everything goes smoothly and that there is almost no chance whatsoever of election integrity issues arising. You would think that, and you would clearly be wrong. That line about the U.S. being a third world country with a Gucci belt makes so much sense right now.
The solution to this process is so very simple, though: Hand-marked, serial numbered ballots with the appropriate identification of the individual appended to said ballot. Verify both, count the vote, move on to the next vote. Votes that don’t pass muster don’t count. Keep in mind that the left calls such practices highly racist, and yet our neighbor to the north, Canada, does it this way. Is Canada racist for requiring ID to vote?
No doubt this will be a ‘red letter day’ but maybe for different reasons than polls leading up to election day might have had us believe. Stay vigilant and speak out, we can’t keep having election integrity issues or we won’t have a country. As Kari Lake said: “Get in line. Stay in line. Vote.”
