Rep. Linda Sanchez flipped off Republican dugout during Congressional Baseball Game
While Sanchez claims someone made a sexist remark to her, an MLB Staffer who was in the dugout says she is lying about it
Thursday night's Congressional Baseball Game proved to be about what you'd expect considering the current political climate. Democrat Rep. Linda Sanchez representing California's 38th district, while leaving the field as she was replaced by a pinch runner, looked over at the Republican dugout before turning away and flipping them off.
Sanchez claimed on Friday, when asked about the incident, that she received a misogynistic comment from the Republican dugout but neither named the alleged heckler nor actually stated what was said to her.
"The Congressional Baseball Game is one of my favorite events of the year. It’s a great cause and brings both sides of the aisle together for a night off from partisan politics. That is why it really struck a nerve when I heard an offensive and misogynistic comment from the Republican side on my way back to the dugout. In the heat of the moment, I reacted. I have no tolerance for men who make women feel like they are unimportant or don’t belong – especially on the field. I will always stand against that kind of bigotry," Said Sanchez in a statement.
The GOP destroyed the Democrats with a score of 10-0, which, to me, sets up the scenario of her just being salty about losing. Getting dumpstered to that degree tends to cause the recipients to be angry.
There have even been calls for Sanchez to be banned from all future Congressional baseball games henceforth. The game was being played on behalf of the Boys and Girls club of DC, so that isn't really a good look in a game being played for charity. The tolerant left, indeed.
In other news, there were a few protesters who got arrested at the game as well. You’d think they would realize they’re all shit at their jobs when they can’t take a leak without a protest breaking out. I did think one of the protesters' banners was a nice touch, though: "They play ball while the world burns." Speaks volumes of where we're at.
