The CHIPs Bill has passed the house, Dems bribe companies, China
Schumer stripped the CHIPs bill of protections that would prevent the funneling of money to China just before it passed.
In a move that all but nullifies what the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) for America Act would accomplish, Senator Chuck Schumer made sure that he stripped protections from the bill that would prevent the funneling of taxpayer money into the coffers of Chinese companies, and by extension, the CCP themselves. Schumer has since offered no explanation.
This part in particular incensed Senate Republicans who otherwise would've voted on the bill, but recognized the danger of what Schumer was proposing before the Senate vote went down. Both sides will campaign in part on such an issue.
Republicans will correctly say that Schumer willfully removed protections that would've ensured the bill did what it was supposed to do - create meaningful competition against China's stranglehold on the semiconductor market.
Meanwhile Democrats will simply highlight the fact that Republicans voted no on a bill meant to make the United States competitive in the semiconductor market. Of course such ads would be interspersed with a heavy dose of January 6th show trial nonsense, because that's what the Democrats are gambling on to hold power. What a joke.
House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy also made his misgivings about such things known, "The Senate passed a bill that took a small, discretionary program and turned it into a $280 billion blank check, including $79 billion in mandatory spending on corporate welfare to be handed out to whoever President Biden wants,"
McCarthy, speaking from the house floor, stated,"I’m a no on the Senate CHIPS bill that will come to the floor today. I was a no last week. I was a no last night. And I will be the first no on the board today, I encourage all my Republican colleagues to join me.”
I'm with McCarthy on this one, though he doesn't say the quiet part out loud, but I will. This is another instance of Biden paying China back for helping to get him elected, and to honor deals he made with them through his son.
Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders also opposed the bill, according to Rep. Thomas Massie. He stated that Bernie Sanders called the bill a $53 billion bribe in capitulation to the demands of semiconductor companies who were threatening to leave the United States.
Like everything else in Washington, it comes with a sizable headwind of rhetoric and posturing. You, the taxpayer, have had your hard-won earnings given away to those who already have so much, once again, by a rabble of geriatric oligarchs who have no business being in office.
I will renew my call for a maximum age limit of 65 for any public office, effective immediately. I also ask for the immediate ability for any private citizen to raise enough support from their fellow citizens to recall and impeach ineffective leadership at any time during their term, not merely with a periodic vote.
These cockroaches are far too entrenched to get anything good out of them, throw them out in the cold.
