Katie Hobbs declared winner in Arizona after extended vote count
The GOP should face facts: They're never going to win another election so long as mail-in voting allows dragging out vote counts as long as is needed to obtain the desired result for Dems.
With reports abound about disenfranchisement being commonplace in predominately red-leaning districts in Arizona due to voting machine malfunctions and people not being allowed to vote at alternative voting sites with working equipment, Katie Hobbs has been declared the winner of Arizona’s gubernatorial election. She prevails over Kari Lake, who the news simply can’t mention without calling her an election denier, because if they do that then they got carte blanche to do whatever they need to do in order to make sure she doesn’t win. And that’s the point.
With the setup being that she’s an open election denier, any further calls for investigation of election fraud by her are going to be taken as a ‘boy who cried wolf’ scenario by the media.
Will she challenge this result? Absolutely. Does she have standing? Well, see for yourself. One thing that really stuck out to me was this story by The Post Millennial about election officials starting a Political Action Committee to ensure that anyone who had questions about election integrity in Arizona doesn’t get elected. Talk about going the extra mile to help your job security. Does it not destroy any illusion of impartiality by election officials when they’re actively working against candidates with whom they disagree? Wouldn’t it be easier for them to just improve the electoral process in Maricopa county? They’ve had two years to do so. Perhaps if they ran a smooth election for once in their lives that ended on-time no one would have any questions.
Either way, just the appearance of election officials working against Kari Lake gives her standing for a lawsuit, in my opinion. And Blake Masters should join her in doing so, if only to get to the bottom of why Senator Mark Kelly wouldn’t agree to polls staying open long enough for all those disenfranchised GOP voters to be able to cast their votes. Twitter alone is a hotbed of anecdotes about disenfranchisement and people’s votes not being counted. Anecdotes aren’t proof, but in my mind they can’t be discounted. Why there isn’t a database of all votes that we can look at and reference to see if our vote was counted in every state, I’ll never know. Florida has this very thing, and we see what happened with the elections down there. Turns out, requiring proof does strange things like allow a popular GOP governor to win in a landslide. I imagine he would have won regardless but it would have been a lot closer had Florida not fixed their election process. Charlie Crist has Al Gore to thank for that.
Some like Kyle Becker, formerly of Fox News, call attention to the fact that Katie Hobbs is still Arizona’s Secretary of State, and had refused to recuse herself from overseeing the election she herself stood to gain the most from. However, she has precedent on her side with that, as there was also controversy in 2018 surrounding Georgia’s GOP Governor Brian Kemp being in Hobbs’ exact same position in his own state, and Stacey Abrams — his opponent in 2018, as well as 2022 — refused to concede in 2018 due to this conflict of interest.
Some might get angry at me pointing out that the GOP has done the same move, but we should call out things when they happen, not just because of who is involved. That’s what the institutional left does. Hence why Trump got impeached for a quid pro quo that Joe Biden did, and Joe Biden still has yet to face any inquiries about openly attempting to engage in a quid pro quo with Saudi Arabia ( which the Saudis refused ) in exchange for their help in winning the election by not cutting oil production until after our elections happened.
”We investigated ourselves and found that we did nothing wrong.”
I’m sure that will be the case with the situation in Arizona, as well. Especially since the governor-elect will have ultimate jurisdiction over her own case. Wouldn’t it be funny if they did investigate and found that Hobbs was directly involved, and she pardoned herself? That would be a true testament to the damaged nature of the American systems of government on all levels.
Democrats would like you to think that there is no such thing as election fraud and that it simply never happens. That is patently false, just like the assertion that Democrats never deny election results that I often find myself making here on this Substack. Again, I provide receipts for both. The Heritage Foundation has documented many cases of proven election fraud. As for Democrats denying election results, well, here’s the video that I again feel the need to post.
My suggestion to get to the bottom of all of this and fix our elections is simple: Do not allow judges to throw out election cases. And they should be heard by a jury, not decided by activist judges. This might result in an even more clogged legal system but it’s important for all cases about these sorts of things to be aired for the world to see. What have we got to lose? If things are on the level, that will come out in court and we can put the issue to bed. And if they’re not then we prosecute whose responsible and reform our election systems. Ah, but that last part is the problem. If we did that, then people like Katie Hobbs would be out of a job and in a prison cell.
If election cases run past the date when officials are to be sworn into office, then swear in the apparent winners with the caveat that they are automatically recused from presiding over anything pertaining to their own election. When the case is decided, if the apparent winner is no longer the actual winner, they get tossed out and the correct candidate is sworn in.
I believe wholeheartedly that we need to make it a lot easier to toss out bad politicians in this country. Day 1, if necessary.
Either way, Kari Lake should pursue this election to the highest court that will hear her case, because I definitely think she has one. And all those voters that feel disenfranchised should be in on it.
Whether you think there was any foul play or not in the midterm elections, you cannot deny that our election process needs a severe overhaul. Our country is at stake.

I’ve said for a while now that we’ll never have another free and fair election until we go back to all paper ballots, vote in person, and manual counting.
