PayPal attempting to keep over $1.2 million they have seized from YoungRippa59's Rippaverse Comics
YoungRippa59 provided updates regarding his company's difficulties with PayPal holding over $1.2 million in funds
I wrote an article about this situation the other day, and since then, Eric July, aka YoungRippa59, the owner of Rippaverse comics, has released more information regarding the scary situation where a large amount of the company's capital is effectively being held in escrow forcibly by PayPal.
The real rub is that PayPal is functioning more like a sanctioning authority in this case, since they're not going to actually release the funds they're holding in Rippaverse's account, even after fulfillment of the purchase agreements associated with the funds they're holding.
Per the email received by YoungRippa59, the situation is as follows.
PayPal has flagged Rippaverse's account as high-risk and is applying a reserve to the account. The reserve is money set aside for losses incurred due to chargebacks, claims, or payment reversals made against Rippaverse's account.
The amount held in reserve is to the tune of $1,225,008.14 ( though Rippa states in his video about it that the amount is actually higher than that ) and 100% of the processed amount will be held for a 60 day rolling period ( meaning the date could potentially be reset for another 60 day period ) and it began on July 27th, 2022.
PayPal is effectively holding the money hostage and since it's a rolling period, they could technically claim any infringement on the part of the account holder could reset said rolling period. So you may as well say they're holding it indefinitely.
The language used in the email received by YoungRippa59 implies that these holds will be a regular occurrence going forward based on PayPal's assessment of risk associated with the Rippaverse account.
Is that fucked up or what?
For those who are unaware, YoungRippa59 is also a political commentator on YouTube with almost 500,000 subscribers. For anyone who has ever paid attention, anyone with over 100,000 subscribers received a vastly heightened level of scrutiny because the institutional left fears their reach. Rippa's videos expose a lot of the hypocrisy going on in the world, particularly from woke idiots who seem to have woven their tentacles throughout all things media-related.
I can't really shake the feeling that this is partisan fuckery once again, seeing as PayPal's CEO literally admitted in 2019 that Southern Poverty Law Center - a far-left nonprofit that says they specialize in civil rights and public interest litigation, but they really function as an enforcement arm of the institutional left to punish their political opponents - has a say in who gets banned from PayPal.
These difficulties being imposed by this situation with PayPal is stifling Rippaverse Comics' ability to accept international payments, and is forcing them to seek other alternatives in the meantime. They will undoubtedly miss out on some customers due to frustration, and PayPal should be held to account for that lost revenue, in my opinion.
Anyone who thinks I'm crazy for alleging this type of thing happens should remember that credit card companies, banks, and payment processors have dropped other individuals and companies in the past based on their political perspectives. Buzzfeed even reported on it as early as 2017.
I know what you're thinking, Buzzfeed is about as reliable as a payoff from a Nigerian prince, but I find it's best to use sources that lefties will actually look at to highlight their hypocrisy and present hard-to-swallow facts.
YoungRippa59 says his lawyers are already involved and are working to force PayPal to release the funds. The alternative is to send out products at a loss with no guarantee PayPal will ever release the funds, as PayPal has not agreed, as previously stated, to release the funds on fulfillment of the purchase agreements associated with said funds.
They're trying to bury a new and fresh perspective on the comic book industry to protect the old guard in the industry, who are chock full of radical leftist ideologues who want to force you to consume woke garbage. Keep on fighting the good fight and get the word out to anyone you know who is planning to start a business that PayPal should be avoided at all costs.
