FBI running amok; subpoenas PA Republican state legislators
The institutional left's enforcement arm is at it again, ramping up their partisan war with more actions against the right.
Several Pennsylvania state lawmakers got a knock at their door today and it wasn't Avon calling - it was the Feds. The FBI has been on a roll this week, issuing subpoenas to several Republicans who they believe might have additional information on U.S. Rep. Scott Perry, whose smartphone was seized by the FBI on Tuesday.
So what are they after? It seems the main issue they're investigating is centered around Scott Perry's alleged efforts seeking alternate electors who would cast their electoral votes for Trump to allow him to remain in the White house despite having lost the 2020 Presidential election.
Spokespeople for several Pennsylvania state legislature did not confirm or deny whether those lawmakers they represent had received a subpoena.
Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman, a Republican representing Centre County issued a statement on the matter," Federal subpoenas typically request confidentiality from the witnesses being subpoenaed in order to avoid impediment to the ongoing investigation, so it would be inappropriate to comment on whether members have received subpoenas or not. If subpoenaed as witnesses, our members will certainly comply with requests for documents or information not covered by an applicable privilege."
As it stands, it doesn't seem any of those who received subpoenas are directly under investigation themselves.
What’s interesting is the fact that the FBI seems to be going around everyone’s legal representatives, having chosen not only to raid Trump’s home in Mar-a-lago without a peep to Trump’s legal team, but they directly accosted Scott Perry for his smartphone, flashing a warrant in his face in front of his family. Scott Perry spoke of that odd procedural misnomer on the part of the FBI in his statement to Fox News on Tuesday,” As with President Trump last night, DOJ chose this unnecessary and aggressive action instead of simply contacting my attorneys,” said Perry.
One thing is certain; tensions are mounting. Republicans and Democrats are increasingly hostile toward one another, even to the point of making veiled threats.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has publicly promised Merrick Garland on Twitter that there will be retribution.
”I've seen enough.
The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization. When Republicans take back the House [of Representatives], we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned.
Attorney General Garland: preserve your documents and clear your calendar.” stated McCarthy on Monday.
Prominent Republicans have to be wondering if they’re next on the FBI’s blacklist, and from the standpoint of an ordinary citizen, I’m wondering: Where does this end?
I ask where it ends because people are rightfully concerned about these “three-letter-agencies” when you hear about the IRS planning to add 87,000 agents and arming themselves heavily.
Only failed nations under authoritarian rule usually have to worry about the faction in power actively seeking to eliminate their enemies. The founding fathers are rolling in their graves.
